Anti wrinkle injections, more commonly known as Botox, are used to smooth lines and wrinkles.

The areas most often treated are:

  • Frown Lines
  • Worry Lines
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Lip Lines
  • Lower face to improve jawline and improve appearance of the neck.

How does it work?

Botulinum toxin, known as Botox, is a natural protein produced by the bacterium Clostidium Botulinem. The toxin blocks the transmission of messages sent from the nerve to the muscle which controls contraction.

Without these messages, the muscle remains in a resting state until the body recovers, this recovery period lasts anywhere from 8-12 weeks.

Results

After treatment you can expect to see results after day 4. The full result can be reviewed after 2-3 weeks. After two weeks you will attend a review with Jules’ Aesthetics.

You are advised to keep the area active for a few hours. You also need to avoid extreme heat or cold, lying down or leaning forward for 4 hours after your treatment. Vigorous exercise, sun exposure & sauna heat should be avoided for 48 hours.

This is not a one size fits all treatment and Jules Aesthetics will tailor your treatment to fit your individual requirements. Expectation of the outcome will be discussed at your initial consultation.

Am I suitable?

  • For the best results, your skin should be in good condition and lines not too furrowed.
  • Botulinum Toxin cannot be given if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Not suitable for patients with certain neurological disorders.
  • Not suitable if you have had any previous adverse reactions to Botulinum Toxin treatment.
  • Certain medications are contraindication, particularly those which affect bleeding ie Aspirin or Warfarin.
  • Some light bruising may occur so please discuss this at your initial consultation if you are planning to attend a special event.

Is it safe?

All treatments carry a degree of risk. Side effects can include:

Bruising

  • Swelling at injection sites
  • Redness at injection sites
  • Asymmetry of expression
  • Drooping of the brow or eyelid
  • Headache or sensation of tightness/heaviness

These adverse effects are uncomming, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks. After care will be provided to minimise risks and promote speedy recovery from any unexpected side effects.
